hermana johnson

There is nothing quite like receiving a mission call, except maybe opening one.  On September 21st 2013 I received my call to serve.  My 10 year old dream finally about to come true and I could not wait to find out where I was about to spend the next 18 months of my life.  I had studied German for 3 years and spent time on exchange there this summer so of course many people guessed I would be called to somewhere in Europe. *spoiler alert (i didn't get called to Germany)* I would have LOVED to go to Germany but I was willing and ready to go wherever the Lord planned for me to go.

So after a few hours a few friends and family came over to watch me open it. I even had my German exchange sister (Daria) on Skype. So when I read the line "You are here by called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Mexico Cuernavaca Mission." I actually said "the Mexico..... something I can't say!? Mission!" I was shocked beyond belief... I am as white as can be and I had NEVER imagined going to Mexico.  I had pictured what it would be like to be called to nearly every place I could think of but never Mexico.  I honestly had never given it a second thought.  But after that day it is almost all I think about.  I know this sounds cliche but it just feels right! I know it is where I am meant to go and serve.  I don't know how I will ever be able to speak Spanish but I know it is possible with the help of our loving Heavenly Father.

check out this awesome video my mission president made!

So when I opened my call I had 137 days until I was assigned to report to the Provo Missionary Training Center and now i have 58 days! I seriously cannot believe how fast the time has flown by! I still have so much to do before I leave but I can't wait for the day I pin on my missionary tag and officially become a missionary!

*please excuse my awkward hair... I was growing out a pixie cut.
